1.) Are you board
riding on flat water or in a heavy current.?
2.) Are you paddling
on a lake, river or ocean?
3.) What is your fitness level,
4.) What type of board
do you have?
Typically the slower
the
watercraft, the smaller the blade.
The paddle Length is
important. A paddle that
is too will put more stress on your shoulder and arm joints limiting
your power. Too short will lower your effectiveness and can cause back
pain..
Surfing, requires a thinner board and you will be in a crouched position so a shorter length works better. so choose a paddle 3-6” longer than your height. Typically for Stand up Paddles touring and racing paddles, you will measure a paddle length of 8-10” longer than your height.
