Summary of how the wood stripkayaks, canoes and row boats are built:
1.) A frame is built of bulk heads to form the ultimate shape. Cedar Planks are laid out in a pattern to cover this frame. The strips are typically attached by nails or staples.
2.) The boat is fiber glassed with 6 ounce fiberglass, 3-4 coats of epoxy is typically used to make sure all the fiberglass is properly filled.
3.) Seats and crossbar are installed and inside is coated a few times with epoxy to seal the inside
4.) The boat is coated with 5 thin coats of marine varnish, 3 days to cure and you are ready to paddle. Takes over 100 hours to make,
